This artisan sterling silver necklace, hallmarked LS and dated 2008, may not reach official “vintage” status until 2028, but it already carries the soul and presence of a future classic. It was one of those rare auction finds I simply could not leave behind—its craftsmanship is nothing short of extraordinary.
Every element of this piece has been thoughtfully created: individually formed oval links compose the chain, each one interspersed with graceful silver circles that add rhythm and movement. Beautifully interspersed are two figure-of-eight links, beautifully crafted symbols of eternity that give the necklace a quiet, poetic depth.
The chain leads to a wonderfully textured heart pendant, full of character and life, and perched upon it is a delicate brass butterfly, designed as though it has just alighted for a moment’s rest. The contrast of metals and textures creates a miniature tableau that draws the eye again and again.
Versatility is part of its charm. The necklace fastens at the front near the heart for a bold, statement look, or you can wear the heart at the back to let the chain's artistry take centre stage. Its 21¼-inch length and clever design even allow it to be wrapped three times around a slim wrist, transforming it into a standout bracelet. Substantial yet comfortable, it weighs 27 grams.
This is a spectacular, symbolic, and beautifully unique piece—a work of wearable art that would elevate any jewellery collection. It’s the kind of necklace you’ll reach for often, whether for its elegance, its sentiment, or simply the joy of wearing something truly special.
