An exceptional vintage artisan ring with a wonderfully tactile, sculptural quality and a truly striking deep purple amethyst at its centre.
The star of this piece is the beautifully polished, pointed amethyst, rising dramatically from its setting. Its unusual pointed form gives the ring an almost architectural quality, while the rich, dark purple stone catches the light beautifully and creates a wonderful contrast against the textured metalwork.
The substantial sterling silver band is approximately 1.2cm wide, gently domed rather than flat, making it incredibly tactile and comfortable to wear. The surface has a wonderfully organic, hand-worked texture, with an arrangement of raised silver beads and contrasting warm-toned brass detailing surrounding the amethyst. The mixture of oxidised silver, brighter silver edges and brass gives the ring tremendous depth and character.
It is a really substantial ring, weighing 14 grams, yet it has a wonderfully organic, handmade feel. Every angle reveals another little detail, making this a piece that is particularly lovely to hold as well as wear.
The ring is fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1997, adding an important element of provenance to this already exceptional artisan piece.
